The D&B Story

The D&B story began with the purchase of a small campground in 1974 with twenty 3w, six 2w & four tent sites. With community spirit and continuous upgrades, the park naturally evolved into an active, lovingly cared for, and spacious seasonal empty nester park.

In 1977, the park expanded to fourteen acres, and in 1981 we completed the installation of sixty-five 3w and 12 tent sites. With the increase in visitors, it was necessary to move the laundry facilities out of our family cottage, so in 1982, we built the laundromat and office.

We were grateful to the boy scouts for lending their tents for our activities. It became very clear to all that we needed a permanent structure. In the summer of 1999, as a twenty-five year project, the campers and I built the pavilion and called it ‘The Wooden Tent’. The community space is the heart of the park, it has seen many potlucks, games, socials, concerts, birthdays, and anniversaries.

In 2005, the recycling center was built for waste management and to keep the raccoons at bay. They soon caught on to the centralized food location and now every year we delight in the battle of wits over access to the green bins. One evening after dusk, I went to check on the green bins and to my surprise, there were three raccoons. One was standing up by the bin holding the lid open, another was inside throwing food out, and the third was sitting and enjoying supper. That is teamwork.

Campers formed their first recreation committee in 1997, and since that time they have been hosting events like dances, auctions, yard sales, potlucks, games tournaments, Christmas in July, Halloween parade, and variety shows.

With the same people sharing their summers and building a strong community spirit, in 2007, it was a natural decision to transform the park into a seasonal empty nester summer home. Upgrades to amp services and lot sizes were made to accommodate larger trailers, the public washrooms were closed, and the pavilion was expanded to accommodate a washer toss court, a kitchen, and washrooms. The park’s name was changed from D&B Campground to D&B RV Park.

D&B RV Park is where traditions are created, lifelong friends are made, and campers enjoy the best of what Nova Scotia summer has to offer.

All of our campers are like an extended family. There are campers that have been spending their summers with us for over 25 years, also known as ‘The 25 Year Club’. Campers formed their first recreation committee in 1997, and since that time they have been hosting events like dances, auctions, yard sales, potlucks, games tournaments, Christmas in July, Halloween parade, and variety shows.

Testimonials

May 2023 Lee and I will begin our 25th year at D&B RV Park. We watched our nephew grow up at the park and spent the best times with family and friends. Potluck suppers, dances, darts, cards, and of course washer toss. The musical experiences have been amazing whether inside someone’s RV or outside on a starry night with a blazing Bonfire and guitars playing ( Shelly Smith❤️) Memories to last a lifetime, here’s to many more.

2023 will be our 40th year at D & B RV Park. We watched our children grow up at the park and now we are making memories with our granddaughter. Many friends and great memories were made throughout the years. An ideal place to relax.
